Program Manager / Mission Manager

Nanoracks is looking for a Program Manager/Mission Manager, in Webster, TX who will be focused on the company's growing launch service offerings, ranging from small satellites to pressurized and un-pressurized microgravity payloads. The Program Manager/Mission Manager will manage and oversee the launch campaign of customer payloads from contract signing to in-space operation, to include contract execution, performance to cost and schedule as well as serve as primary customer interface. In this capacity he/she shall manage multifunctional Nanoracks team and Nanoracks Subcontractors or interface with associate Subcontractors as required to complete contracts under his supervision.

Single point of responsibility for execution, cost, schedule, and performance on the contract. Deliver to pre-assigned profit targets.

Serve as primary interface to customer payload teams from contract signing to in-space operation, and payload return as relevant to mission objectives.

Manage and maintain customer contracts once signed through execution in partnership with Contract management organization.

Develop and manage launch campaign and payload-specific schedules and budgets.

Serve as primary interface to counterparts of launch vehicles and next-level integrators on behalf of the customer throughout the payload integration process. Support and assure connectivity of engineering teams among companies to assure seamless integration and satisfaction of requirements.

By working with systems engineering team, consolidate and communicate pertinent payload data and requirements to corresponding functional organizations responsible for contract execution.

Partner with Configuration Management and corresponding functional organizations to generate and maintain relevant documentation in support of efficient data collection and requirement verification.

Manage the engineering team responsible for payload fit-checks, hardware testing, and integration activities in the field.

Conduct and preside in all internal and external reviews. Reviews include but are not limited to the reviews of customer's payload data, contract requirements and verification, documentation, and compliance data for Nanoracks as well as its launch vehicle partners or their subcontractors.

Support business development & sales teams, including brokering of technical reviews, leading feasibility assessments, major proposal efforts, drafting statements of work, assisting in contract formulation and milestone development, etc.

Sponsor and Support internal engineering team as necessary to facilitate launch of customer payloads, defining requirements, budgets, schedule for R&D projects, etc.


Basic Qualifications:

Minimum 7-10 years of experience

Minimum 5 years of work experience in program management/mission management in the aerospace industry.

Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, aerospace, chemical), hard sciences (e.g., physics, materials science), computer science/engineering, or mathematics from an accredited university.

Experience in leading multifunctional teams, proven success operating in matrix environment

Good understanding of finance and proven experience in managing to financial targets of FFP programs

Strong business acumen and strategic thinking

Ability to successfully manage geographically distributed Team

Experience in participating in program captures and bid reviews

Strong oral and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to travel up to 30% (launch sites, customer facilities, NASA/Government centers (both foreign & domestic)

Ability to work a flexible schedule to support launch & integration operations (to include weekends and/or holidays)

US Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

Direct experience working with CubeSats, Small Satellites, or any other platforms or payloads designed for operation in space (design, build, test, analysis, launch, operation, etc.).

Familiarity with biological or chemical processes, in basic laboratory principles and techniques, or the ability to quickly gain knowledge with biological or chemical processes.

Experience working with government and commercial aerospace customers.

Familiarity with the aerospace industry, including launch vehicles and/or payload development.

Ability to understand basic technical features of the products (structural, thermal, orbital mechanics).

Understanding of United States export control laws and regulations.

Understanding of United States spectrum coordination laws and regulations.
