Design Manager Midlands (Daventry / Kidderminster) Main Contractor £70,000 - £75,000 & package A newly established regional contractor with the financial backing of a leading UK civil engineering and groundworks company are looking for a Design Manager to support the design management function through both pre-construction and construction stages on design and build projects with typical values between £5-£20m. The Design Manager role will be predominantly office based either in Kidderminster or Daventry and will require visits to sites and there is a potential for some home working. Current schemes are in the industrial and infrastructure sectors but opportunities in other sectors will be explored in the future. Pre-Construction responsibilities: Working closely with the bid team to support the design function engaging where possible with the client's professional team, additional support consultants and our specialist supply. Review tender information Carry out Design Review / Gap Analysis Review Consultant Appointment Identify further consultant appointments Develop the Design and Procurement Programme in line with the Tender Construction Programme Develop and manage design risk and opportunity schedule Liaise closely with specialist supply chain and technically review quotes Develop Design Proposals Construction Responsibilities: Mostly design management will be undertaken by the Project Manager with support from a Doc Cont. The Design Manager will input into the setting up of the scheme and then the provide support as required to the construction team, consultants and client. Establish Common Data Environment - Document control System Finalise Scope of Consultants appointments / design responsibility matrix Develop Information release schedule Support project teams with specialist package procurement Lead design team meetings / workshops as required Ensure design programme is monitored and controlled Provide support to the Delivery Team on key issues as required Ensure as built information is developed as required Key experience An understanding and experience of single stage tendering. Experience in the Industrial / Distribution and Commercial sectors Live project experience A strong understanding of ground solutions and ground risks Knowledge of design process recognising current legislation, standards and codes of practice Degree educated Knowledge of Auto cad, BIM, BREEAM and Sustainability - Net Zero
